Mughals Empire:-

The Mughals Empire, begans in 1526 with Babur’s accession to the throne and it is ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707. Aurangzeb’s death marked Decline of mughals empire. The empire of the Mughals was the largest in India , when Aurangzeb died. But after the fifty years of his death, the Mughal Empire split up.

  1. After the death of Aurangzeb ,Muaazam emerged victorious in the war of succession

  2. Muaazam ascended the throne with the name of Bahadur Shah -1 in 1707 at the age of 67 and became the next ruler of mughal empire.

  3. During Bahadur Shah’s reign jaziya was abolished.

  4. Bahadur Shah gave a high Mansab to Guru Govind Singh.

  5. Bahadur Shah released the Maratha prince Sahu.

  6. Jahandar Shah came to the throne in 1712 A.D.

  7. He was dominated by his mistress Lal Kunwar.She imitated the style of Nur Jahan.

  8. Administration was virtually in the hand of Zulfiqar Khan.

  9. Jahandar Shah was the first later Mughal ruler to get the throne with the help of nobles .

  10. The policies of Aurangzeb were reversed.

  11. Jal Singh of Amber as given the title of mirza Raja Sawai and appointed Governor of Malwa.

  12. Ajit Singh of Marwar was awarded the title of Maharaja and appointed governor of Gujarat.

  13. Sahu was granted Chauth and Sardeshmukhi of Deccan.

  14. Farrukh Siyar came to the throne in 1713 A.D.with the help of Sayyid brothers.

  15. Sayyid brothers were also known as king makers.

  16. Sayyid brothers dominated mughal court and empire from 1713 to 1719.,the elder brother Abdullah khan was wazir and younger .Hussain Ali khan was Mir Bhakshi.

  17. Sikh leader Banda Bahadur excuted by Farrukhatyar.

  18. Sayyid brothers belonged to Hindustani group of mughal nobility.

  19. In 1719,the sayyid brothers deposed Farrukh Sityarand killed him.

  20. After Farrukh Siyar.Sayyidbrothersplaced rafi-ud-darajat on the throne but he died soon.

  21. Muhammad Shah came to the throne in 1729 A.D.

  22. Muhammad Shah was known as “Rangila”.

  23. Nadir Shah ,the Napolean of Iran invaded Indian and inflicted a crushing defeat on mughal army at karnal on Feb 13,1739.

  24. Nadir Shah captured Delhi and Mohammad Shah was imprisoned. He plundered Delhi.

  25. Nadir Shah’s total plunder has been estimated at Rs.70 crores..He also carried away the famous Koh-i-noor diamond and the Jewel Studded peacock Throne of Shah Jahan.

  26. Ahmad Shah Abdali invaded the kingdom for the first time during Muhammad Shah’s reign in1748.

  27. Various provinces became independent like Bengal, Hyderabad ,Awadh, Carnatic etc.

  28. Th Jats under Badan Singh established themselves in the districts of Agra and Mathura and founded the Jat state of Bharatpur.

  29. Sayyid brothers were murdered in 1720 A.D.

  30. Ahmad Shah came to the throne in1748 A.D.

  31. Safdar Jang,the Nawab of Awadh became the wazir of the empire.

  32. His wazir (after Safdar Jang) imad-ul-Muik blinded him and placed Alamgir-ii on the throne.

  33. Ahmad Shah Abdali invaded india thrice during the reign.

  34. Alamgir-II came to the throne in 1754 A.D.

  35. Battle of Plassey(1757) was fought during the reignof Alam gir II.

  36. Ahmad Shah Abdali invaded fourthtime in his reign in 1755.

  37. The Marathas were invited by his wazir to save guard the empire against abdali.

  38. In 1759 he was murdered by his wazir,imad-ul-mulk.

  39. Real name of Shah Alam II was Ali Gauhar.

  40. Along with Mir Qasim and Shuja-ud-Daulah he was defeated by English at the battle of buxar in 1764.

  41. He lived for Several years at Allahabad as a pensioner of the East india Company.

  42. He regained the throne of Delhi with the help of Maratha Sardar Mahadji Scindhia in 1772.

  43. British under lord Lake captured Delhi and Agra in 1803.

  44. He was killed by Ghulam Qadir in 1806.

  45. English concluded treaty of Allahabad (1765).

  46. Bahadur Shah Zafar was the last Mughal emperor.
